Hope

‘Hope’ size 30x20cm, Linocut 2019

Once a month or so I meet up with two artist friends to share creative time, support and some chat. During our May meet we drew on Exmoor.

I had been waiting and hoping for the coming of new leaves on the trees and on this trip the Hawthorn leaves and flower buds burst open with such delicacy. Drawing even a single bough of a tree against a wooded backdrop is complex, but I find it absorbing following the tree limbs and light and shade of the leaves.
