Exmoor was looking its bleakest in December, what to draw! The only point of light were the Gorse flowers. They were such interesting plump cushioned shapes. It was a reminder that there is always interest and colour in every landscape.

Searching for Winter Flowers

I think that Winter wildflowers bring hope, a light in the darker months. The first flowers to be seen on Exmoor are the Snowdrops found in light woodland and down the lanes. There are also the Gorse flowers which often hang on into the Winter as bright as lamps.
