Violet & Bracken
The wild Violet is one of our earlier Spring flowers. The intense purple of the petals are such a delight to see hidden on the ground or banks. I found out that violets are a crucial food for the caterpillars of the fritillary butterflies, a rare and wonderful sight. The violet flower is a rich purple set againtst the bleached tan of winter Bracken and leaves.
